She was born in Guernsey to literary gifted father Edward J. Mortimer Collins and his wife Susanne Hubbard. She was a theosophist and author of more than 46 books.

\nIn 1884, Mabel becomes a member of the London Lodge of the Theosophical Society. In the same year, she writes Idyll of white lotus, followed by book “Light on way” with subtitle “The discussion is written for those who are unaware of eastern wisdom but who wish to enter the territory of its impact.”

\nIn 1887, after the publication of the “Through golden door”, the Collins along with Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, became co-editor of the magazine Lucifer. With editorial job she ceased two years later because of disagreements within the movement associated with the authorship of her books. The ambiguous indication on the cover of the book “Light on the path”, some have suggested that the work is inspired by the consultant and for some time it was suggested that the source was Mahatma Koot Hoomi, one of the mysterious masters of Madame Blavatsky. After a sharp polemics regarding literary source was Mabel excluded from the Theosophical Society. Later she was allowed to rejoin. Whatever the true source is for book, the Collins insisted that she traveled on the astral plane, where she meeted with teachers.

\nMuch of her time she devoted to Theosophy and socializing with Theosophists, but still continued to write novels and was especially so for the majority a writer of romantic novels.<\/p>\n
