\nBEGINNINGS OF THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY IN SLOVENIA

\nSo far known data about beginnings of theosophical society in Slovenia are derived from biography of first president of Theosophical society in Russia, Ana Kamenski, which was written by Helena Pisareva. She mentions in her work, that in year of 1901 she visited Rikli’s “Zdravstveni zavod” in Bled and met there group of 30 – 40 people, which were somehow different from other guests. One of them, ms. Hamilton, told her, that they are theosophists. Meanwhile, when another representive of of this group, W. B. Fricke, at that time general secretary of Dutch Section of Theosophical Society, gave her few theosophical books and familiarized here with movement.

\nMrs. Pisareva further mentions, that Rikli’s institue in Bled was in 1904 also visited by Ana Kamenski. Reason for her coming was desire for recovery of health, because se was exhausted. While her stay in Bled, she had prophetic dreams about her mission, associated with theosophical society.

\nOn basis of this data it is possible to conclude that Rikli’s “Zdravstveni zavod” in Bled at end of XIX. and in beginning of XX. century was cross point of theosophists and eventually center for spreading informations about theosophical movement, over which theosophical ideas have entered into Slovenian area, because once in year 1989 contact happened between Fricke and dr. Edvard \u0160erko, unambigously the beginner of theosophical society in Slovenia.

\nBetween those two, regular correspondence was developed, in which Fricke noted mr. \u0160erk with theosophy and theosophical literature and assisted him toward spreading theosophical ideas and translating theosophical texts. On basis of this, dr. \u0160erko in Ljubljana organized smaller theosophical study center of four aspirants, and for some time it had regular meetings at sundays.

\nBecause at that time, Slovenian territory was part of Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Slovenian theosophists have maintained contact with Austrian theophists in Graz and Wien, where in year of 1912 was estabilished Austrian Section of theosophical society. First world war caused break of operation up to year 1918, when tendencies again came to live after seriously organized theosophical organization in Slovenia.
