At the round table, we have had the honor to talk to Sally Ranney, a dedicated environmental activist from the United States who worked with three US Presidents (Carter, Reagan, Clinton), founder and member of many committees. Sally is also the life partner of Ted Turner (CNN) and is very active in his projects for conservation of nature and other philanthropy. We attach a link to her CV:: http://www.sallyranney.com/

In Celje we had been in a dialogue with exceptional guests – besides Sally Ranney, there were two other inspiring guests with us: Dr. Nina Meyerhof and Gregor Deleja, touched upon the pressing present-day climate change, the role of sustainable development, the preservation of nature, the role of young people in creating a future based on sustainable peace. An important role will was devoted to the model of small cities that can be an active sandbox, where new models and modes of operation are being tested, where social innovations are born (positive social changes).

We invited all who would like to participate in an open debate, ask questions and expand the spectrum of their activities to respond, send questions and place them at the event itself to all the guests present:

Dr. Nina Meyerhof is a native of the United States and lives in the United States. She devoted her life to a better life for children by developing empowerment processes with an emphasis on self-esteem, democratic life skills, an understanding of the spiritual nature and the spread of a local / global perspective. As the president and founder of Children of the Earth, she is a visionary mentor, recognized for her life that advocates for children and youth.

Gregor Deleja from the Gymnasium Celje – Center, one of the more advanced and inspiring principals in Slovenia. In addition to managerial obligations, he teaches music and piano, leads school choirs and boys’ capella ensembles, takes care of international exchange programs and monitors students on trips abroad and abroad. He is so popular with both parents and students.

The purpose of the debate is to form Think Tank; that is, community development of new ideas with the goal of bringing concrete measures that everyone can accept. We want to put decision-makers before the requirement to listen to what people actually want and take urgent action to protect the Global Commons.

The debate encouraged community reflection:

    • What are the 3 priorities for sustaining the sustainable world? (access to clean water + access to the Internet and information + all energy comes from renewable sources) – Every individual can assume his responsibility here.
    • Raising awareness of the fact that climate change is not 50 or 75 years away, but only 10 to 15. How will we keep the world in the direction of peace and sustainability?
    • We will raise our awareness of the significance of our Arctic and Antarctic planet. Forests and oceans, ‘global common areas – supersystems’ that affect the social, economic and biodiversity of our entire planet
  • Together, we can do more for our planet: global choices + global voices + global active citizens = for the global community (conscious participation in the protection of our planetary ecosystems.)
