To “explore and develop this basic truth” as the second topic of the Theosophical Society is proposed a comparative study of three different approaches that humanity has reached for the understanding of life: religion, philosophy and science.

The Theosophical Society was also the first organization in modern time; it has promoted interfaith activities around the world and in a systematic manner. One of its objectives was to bring the wisdom of the East to the West, when religion, neither Judaism nor Christianity, are considered merely as superstition. Thanks to the work of the Theosophical Society, the words such as karma, yoga, and many others have become known to the general public outside of academia. It was also the first organization that had  its work directed towards bridging the gap between science and spirituality at the time they were classified as totally incompatible.

It is said that the distinction of the higher self searches for similarity among the people, while the lower I is looking for differences. With the comparative study we want to objectively examine the different religions and routes to find the bind what connects them. Of course it is a great challenge for humanity and it takes a lot of wisdom and understanding in order to overcome those differences; these are just illusions and in fact they are hiding the truth.

Blue Books are the glorious opus of 24 books by the internal dictation of spiritual master Djwhal Khul written by Alice A. Bailey. They inform us with as yet undisclosed facts about the existence of the Hierarchy teachers that led mankind ever since the beginning of existence by their evolutionary path.

About the Author Alice A. Bailey

Bailey was born and grew up in the rich orthodox Christian environment in the UK. She was an influential writer and lecturer in the areas of the occult, esoteric healing, Christianity, astrology and spirituality. Even very young she began to wonder about the meaning of life and the credibility of the dogmas of the time. Because of the sense of worthlessness and a certain degree of interest in life after death, she attempted suicide for three times before her fifteenth year of life. When she was 15 years old, she was visited by a stranger “… tall man dressed in European clothes and wearing the turban,” who told her that she must develop self-control in order to prepare for the work that was planned for her. At first she thought that the mysterious man who visited her was Jesus, but later she found out it was Master Koot Hoomi.

In the following years Alice worked in military homes in Ireland and India. After the wedding she moved to the US where she gave birth to three children. When she was separated from her husband, she became very poor. She cared for children and worked in a factory.

In 1917 she met some direct disciples of Helena Blavatsky, got in touch with her teachings and she joined the Theosophical Society. At that time she met her future husband Foster Bailey and in 1918 she became a member of the Esoteric Section of the Theosophical Society.

Bailey wrote that in 1919 she contacted the Master known under the name Tibetan. At the beginning she resisted to cooperate, but then she agreed to write the messages that came out of that source. She wrote for 30 years, from 1919 till 1949. The result was 24 published books of ancient wisdom, philosophy, religion, contemporary events, science, psychology, nations, astrology and treatment. Soon, together with her husband, she was expelled of the Theosophical Society.

In 1922, the Bailey began to publish the magazine The Beacon on esoteric philosophy. With the help of her husband Alice founded the Arcane School in 1923 (also part of Lucis Trust), which has and still continues to give a series of correspondence courses based on its heterodox versions of theosophy, which adopted the basic theosophical views on karma, reincarnation, masters, Divine Plan.

Because Alice extensively used in his books the term “New Age” some authors describe her as the founder of the New Age movement, while others wrote about her devotion to paganism.

The link between Theosophy and Agni Yoga can be understood from the fact it stands out in both learnings: Theosophy explains the theoretical basis of mahatmas Teachings, ontology, cosmogony, philosophical anthropology and learning of evolution, while Agni Yoga explores practical aspects of spiritual self-improvement and in particular it focuses on ethics and psychology.

Another classic and extensive cycle of theosophical works comprises 17 books. The lesson of author was transferred to the Master Morya. In Sanskrit Agni means fire. It is meant to be the power and energy of creation, while yoga means the union with the divine. Agni Yoga is a call for “warriors of light” to take their place.
